Decided to focus on making this app as easy and simple as possible. i’d ;ike it to be simplistic but on the user interaction side of things….for example is it possible that if the user click once on the app icon, the pedometer starts counting (meaning that my little character would start walking). and if the user click twice the full app starts up? except on the first launch….
Ok, just find out that apple does t allow animated app icons…..soooo, got to find way to have something counting like the clock on iPhone for example…something similar to widgets i guess???
Here an interesting one:
Not looking too good:

Than again:

Ha! Why not?
here is some of my scribbles:
It seems that since 2012 nothing much as evolve on the possibly to create animated icons for ISO, although there is solutions if you really want to have an animated icons on the home page of your iPhone, even a simple animated clock effect seems to be exclusively reserved to apple…..
Moving on the the look design side of things…
I tried different things:
But than tried different colours while developing the functionality of the app…
I’d like if the user could choose to be in a team or not and make the app useable for longer than just the challenge month.
Toke out the map page as i think everyone may not like same location for different reasons: how far it is, physical abilities, etc…
If part of a team he also can check the members live activity, i think it can be motivating to see if other team members are walking or not but also check their stats.
after class feed back, i was suggested to add more colours:
Than i decided to go even more minimalistic as i feel it is best if the app is not on the way, it will always be working in the back ground so once the first log in is done the app will just work everyday, automatically recording the steps of each day updating data unless the user switch it off.
Here is a little animation, toke me for ever to do it:
…and after further class feedback i was told to focus specifically on the little character, witch unfortunately can not be an animated app icon, the possibility of it being animated as a widget but that would only work for androids…disappointing really.
Here is some attempt on displaying the app functionality:
Flow chart
Though i was getting close but more feedback…..and
I than remove the stop watch, it is not needed, i feel the screen colour works better and i do like the lay out.
